The Discerning Athlete

The Discerning Athlete is a serious study of the Old Testament book of Proverbs. It is a Bible study designed specifically for athletes. It is not merely a devotional guide or inspirational book. It is a guided tour through the Proverbs with an emphasis on helping athletes apply the Word of God to the nitty-gritty details of team leadership.

If you’re serious about leading for God’s glory and your teammates’ joy, then The Discerning Athlete is a worthy consideration. It will help every athlete understand and embrace the skill to effectively navigate life and leadership for the glory of God.

Ryan Limbaugh is the son of a longtime baseball coach (Malley), nephew of a longtime football coach (Tommy), and brother of a long-time golf coach (Scott). Coaching runs in the Limbaugh family. And, by God’s grace, so does faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He firmly believes that the Gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). Ryan is a former collegiate athlete who has pursued Gospel impact through sports. He is passionate about equipping leaders to maximize their impact for Christ. Ryan has served coaches and athletes for many years through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a graduate of The Master’s Seminary. He and his wife Jamie live at the foot of Mount Cheaha in Calhoun County, Alabama. They have three sons: Carson, Cody, and Adam.
